Pulitzer Prize Winning Play "Crimes of the Heart" Come to Claremont Opera House

CLAREMONT, NEW HAMPSHIRE - Crimes of the Heart a Pulitzer Prize winning play by Beth Henley will be performed at the Claremont Opera House this weekend, January 22-25. The play, directed by Larissa Cahill, will be presented by the Stevens High School Advanced Theater class with six performances in all.

At the core of this tragic comedy are the three MaGrath sisters, Meg, Babe and Lenny who reunite at Old Granddaddy's home after Babe shoots her abusive husband. Past resentments bubble to the surface as they're forced to deal with assorted relatives and past relationships while coping with the latest incident that has disrupted their lives. Each sister is forced to face the consequences of the "crimes of the heart" she has committed.

Students you may know in the play are Stephanie McConnell, Jude Decker, Nicole Williams, Gabby Fletcher, Amando Malec, Khan Khalifa, Jimmy Wheeler, Ellie Stringer, Shelby Lynhall, Sydney Bellimer, Gillian Cahill, Justin Park and Bryce Foss. Note that there are different casts for different nights. Check with your favorite student to see when they will be performing.

The audience is seated on stage for an up close and personal theatrical experience which takes place in the kitchen of the McGrath home. Show times are Thursday and Friday, January 22nd and 23rd at 7:00 pm and two shows on both Saturday and Sunday January 24th and 25th at 2:00pm and 7:00pm
