Purly Gates and Liza Constable Trio Live at The Mole Hill Theatre

ALSTEAD, NEW HAMPSHIRE - On Friday, August 8 at 7:30 pm, this concert features two fine and complementary acts from different parts of the country.

Purly Gates, is up from Driftwood, Texas and brings songs, poems and stories laced with a heavy dose of humor. Her well-rounded songbag includes swing tunes, originals, traditional folk and a touch of the blues. Purly's vocals have been described as “maple-syrup sweet and smooth” and her instrumental work called “impressive and competent." She plays guitar, banjo, accordion, ukulele and harmonica (not all at once) plus a passle of percussive peculiarities and other oddities such as the bamboo saxophone. As a part-time bull-thrower & yarn-spinner, she feels a great kinship with members of the ‘Liars Club.’ She senses a spiritual connection to the likes of Calamity Jane and other wild women of the west. Many a random tidbit of history has inspired her original songs & poems. www.purlygates.com

Liza Constable, from Nelson, NH has the very rare ability to play and sing a variety of styles, and never sound affected - a genuine, soulful musician who is completely at home with whatever music she chooses, from gutbucket blues to downhome country to sophisticated jazz. Her 'trio" includes Matt Harris (piano), Dave Elvin (bass) and Lee Blakewell (percussion). Listen at https://myspace.com/lizaconstable
