Todd Rundgren Nominated to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Class of 2019

Singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer, Todd Rundgren, who has performed a diverse range of styles as a solo artist and as a member of the band Utopia, has been nominated for induction into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. A native of Philadelphia, the Spirit of Harmony Foundation Founder started his career in 1967 when forming the psychedelic rock band The Nazz. He would begin a solo career two years later and has gone on to become one of the truly pioneering artists in popular music.

Rundgren's music has ventured through rock, pop, punk, folk, jazz, r & b, progressive, and electronic. His first Top 40 hit was "We Gotta Get You a Woman" in 1970, and is best-known for songs such as "Hello It's Me," "I Saw The Light," "Couldn't I Just Tell You," and "Bang On The Drum." He also fronted the progressive rock band Utopia from 1974 through 1985.

His vision and diversity is unmatched; Rundgren organized the first interactive television concert in 1978, designed the first color graphics tablet in 1980, was the first artist to offer his music online and created the first interactive album, No World Order, in 1994. Additionally, Rundgren also became prominent as a highly sought-after producer.

His renowned production work includes Badfinger's Straight Up (1971), Grand Funk Railroad's We're an American Band (1973), the New York Dolls' self-titled debut (1973), Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell (1977, and has sold over 25 million copies!) and XTC's Skylarking (1986). Rundgren has left his fingerprints everywhere, a musical chameleon certainly deserving of induction (finally) into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is offering fans the opportunity to officially participate in the induction selection process. Beginning October 9 and continuing through December 9, 2018, fans can visit to cast votes for who they believe to be most deserving of induction into the Rock Hall. The top five artists, as selected by the public, will comprise a "fans' ballot" that will be tallied along with the other ballots to choose the 2019 inductees.
